The association’s open and 17 and under teams will compete.

The Sharon Fedke-coached 17 and under side qualified for the tournament after winning the Northern Zone Championships in Bendigo on June 2.

Wimmera open coach Gayle Leith said she expected the open side, which won its interleague clash against Mallee in May, to be competitive in the round robin competition.

“It’s wonderful the open players have stepped up to participate. We’re very lucky to have such talented players in the association,” she said.

“There are no standouts. It’s not very often there is strength across the court.

“The combinations work well.”

Horsham’s Emma Uebergang and Sheridan Petering are unavailable.

Stawell coach Jemma Clarkson and Warrack Eagles’ Emma Koschitzke have stepped into the team.

The two teams had their final training session on Monday night, playing Horsham RSL Diggers’ A and B Grade sides in practice matches.

Leith said the Diggers’ help was appreciated.

“They are wonderful. Every time we ask, they step up to the mark,” she said. “It gave everyone the chance to play together again.”

Wimmera Netball Association round nine A Grade matches will be played at 1.15pm tomorrow, switching with C Grade.

North Central Netball Association’s 15 and under team will also compete at the association championships.
